Despite the many benefits, over time many people tend not to keep up the good habits of magnesium soaking on a daily basis if not convenient. Others may need to water-ration and therefore limit their bathing too much. This means that the good habits of daily magnesium top-up can slide as the excuses pile up of, ‘too busy, too tired, no time, etc.’ Even though we may begin with great enthusiasm, if the process doesn’t fit conveniently into our lifestyle, it won’t have longevity.
After pondering upon this dilemma I had yet another serendipitous ‘light bulb’ moment. One day while applying my moisturiser I looked at my cream-covered hands and thought, “What if we put the magnesium into a moisturiser?” That way it would become an easy, automatic daily habit like brushing your teeth.
Peter’s previous vocation before photography was actually applied chemistry in food technology. However, he had a learning curve-and-a-half in 2009 with the development of the world’s first magnesium cream using natural plant ingredients and natural food grade magnesium chloride. We made it imperative that no toxic chemicals should be used in our formulas. Many cosmetic chemist consultants told us it couldn’t be done, but Peter dove right into the task undeterred.
It was trickier than we had first thought because the magnesium cream, containing 15% magnesium chloride salt, does not hold together very well using conventional cosmetic formulation methods. Peter finally discovered by ‘happenstance’ (after a few accidents and interruptions) just the right steps and processes, in just the right order for the cream to hold together in a luxurious creamy emulsion that absorbed like a treat! Skin loved it. He had been like the bumble bee that didn’t know he wasn’t supposed to be able to fly – but just did it anyway.
Our new creation – the world’s first Magnesium Cream - not only acted as an excellent transdermal magnesium delivery system, but also turned out to be a protective and regenerative anti-aging skin care product. Thanks to Divine inspiration and those little ‘accidents’ (of course there are no such thing), we cracked the code. It was a feeling of striking gold after so many years of hard work and toil: both exhilarating and humbling. We pinched ourselves to make sure it wasn’t a dream.
