Tesla eventually becomes a vegetarian and eats mostly activated oatmeal, milk and honey and we will explore the reasons for this diet later. His world of electro-medicine becomes extremely popular and promoted by doctors as a cure for cancer and diseases too numerous to mention here. Edgar Cayce, considered the father of holistic medicine, promoted ozone and the violet ray’s miraculous healing powers in over 900 of his health messages.

Building Industry Embraces the Vital Light

The neon lights from Tesla were made of special glass and gas to allow the various colours of the spectrum to pass through. Tesla understood that it was the ultraviolet portion that had the most medicinal effect.  Since solar ultraviolet light was free, UV transparent materials called Vita-glass became popular for the construction of hospitals, spas and solariums. Entire cities consisting of  “health glass” were planned and promoted as being “vital” for the creation of a newly discovered vitamin D to treat rickets and other disease.

The invisible UV spectrum was eventually divided into letters according to frequencies in lengths of Nano-Meters. UVA, or near UV (315–400 nm), UVB, or middle UV (280–315 nm) and UVC, or far UV (180–280 nm)

UVA light creates the tan on the body and passes through regular glass. UVB contains the “vital rays” of healing fields, and UVC was filtered from reaching the earth by the natural ozone layer. By removing the iron in glass, UVB rays could pass through. Tesla’s artificial UVC light required quartz crystal, which could pass all light frequencies.

This led to the commercialization of quartz bulbs containing metal and phosphors that would illuminate UV in particular frequency spectrums, the most popular being mercury vapour. When artificial UVB light was first introduced to the consumer, the cold winter sunless countries of the Soviet Union, Europe and North America embraced home quartz ultraviolet light therapy directly onto their body to enjoy the healing rays all year round. Eventually, high tech German factories mastered the manufacture of solarium beds, which not only brought vibrant health and happiness; it produced a healthy looking tan.

Dermatologists worldwide appreciate UVB light to heal skin disease such as vitiligo,
