All these activities require healthy alignment, balance, and nervous system function. No wonder generations of athletes are lining up to see their chiropractor for lifestyle care and performance-based care, not just crisis care. It’s exciting to see the public catching on.

As Dr. Plasker states in The 100 Year Lifestyle, 100:100 – 100 percent for 100 years is a great goal. You are much more likely to achieve this if you keep yourself well-adjusted throughout your lifetime rather than waiting for an injury.

This is especially true for athletic kids during their formative years and growth spurts. Recurring injuries often recur because of the stress that spinal and nervous system imbalances cause on the structure and nervous system.

While it is true that elite athletes put their bodies through more extreme tests than the rest of us, there is much we can learn from the way they take care of themselves. While seeking chiropractic care for pain relief is great, it’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to chiropractic care, overall wellness, and fitness.

We all should take a page out of the elite athlete playbook and be proactive, not reactive, when it comes to getting this competitive edge in life and staying in the game as long as possible. Here’s to your ideal 100 Year Lifestyle!
