Devra Davis

Founder and President of Environmental Health Trust (EHT), a scientific and policy think tank, Devra Davis Ph.D., MPH, is a National Book Award finalist for When Smoke Ran Like Water and the critically acclaimed author of The Secret History of the War on Cancer. A new edition of her book Disconnect, is being released in November 2023. Originally published in 2010, it has been translated into a dozen languages, and in 2013 was awarded the Nautilus Silver Medal for courageous investigation. 

 

Davis is the founding executive director of both the Board on Environmental Studies and Toxicology of the National Academy of Sciences and the Center for Environmental Oncology of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, where she was also Professor of Epidemiology. Scientific journal editor and author of more than 220 scientific publications and numerous blogs, Davis is a member of the team awarded the Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore in 2007 and winner of the Green America Lifetime Achievement award for distinguished contributions to Public Health and the Carnegie Science Medal. Her TEDX talk and Melbourne University lectures have reached more than 11 million views.

Davis served under President Clinton as an appointee to the Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board and was a leader of President Clinton's National Action Plan on Breast Cancer. She lectures at numerous universities and academies of sciences and medicine around the world as well as at Harvard, Yale, the University of California, and other global institutions and has advised the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, World Health Organization, World Bank, United Nations Development Program, and others. Featured on CNN, ABC, FOX, CBC, CCTV and major networks in Australia, India, England, and Europe, she and her husband live in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Washington, DC.
