Seeking to reform the current educational System Swamiji evolved a comprehensive educational methodology by the name of "Education for Total Consciousness” (ETC). This teaching methodology integrates objective knowledge with subjective learning, bypassing the examination-focused techniques of “memorization and regurgitation”, and makes learning a process of scientific analysis, inner awareness, reflection and realization.

This system has been designed to fulfill the noble objective of creating a better society of humane human beings. The advantages of ETC are that it requires no change to curriculum and can be taught in any culture and any school.

An international conference and several national conferences were held on ETC and unanimously accepted by distinguished educationists. The conferences were chaired by Dr. K. Sivadasan Pillai, (Late) Former Director, Department of Adult and Continuing Education, University of Kerala, "Swamiji has developed a novel System of education which will help humans to contain conflicts, intolerance and distrust among individuals, by developing a superior understanding of the human being and the universe of which he is a part,” writes Dr. A. Sukumaran Nair, Former Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, India and Chairman of the Global Energy Parliament in 2001.

"Swamiji attributes the incidence of violence and distrust to distorted human thinking and wrong perception of human beings and of the external world, perpetuated through the wrong type of education that we practice. The correction has to come from within education."

Swamiji himself writes that, "Modem education subjects each factor of the external world to careful observation and study, reaching up to the atomic structure of the object. But no effort is made to study or analyse the internal entity. Identifying with the topic means the realization that whatever exists outside is present within and that both are the same. This is the enlightened State of education."

Swamiji established the Isa Viswa Vidyalayam School in 1998 with a few students and it is now a flourishing school following the ETC methodology.

"As an individual, a domestic being, a social being, a national citizen, and a universal entity, whatever knowledge the child learns should not cause any harm either to himself or to his fellow beings in the universe. Education institutions should be the sacred abodes where this knowledge is imparted."

Educational Concept

"As one's knowledge changes, one's attitude changes, and therefore one's activity also changes. To help someone on a lasting basis, letting happiness shine forth as one's true nature, the individual's thoughts must be reformed. This is achieved only by real education."

~ Swami Isa
