June is Mens Health Awareness month. That means its time to honestly take a look at what you are doing to ensure your longevity.     To the surprise of absolutely no one, a new Cleveland Clinic survey finds that most men — and boomer men in particular —don't like talking about their health.   AARP

    Were not asking you to talk about your health. Were asking you to learn how to maximize your health.  Men, take care of your amazing body. According to the Cleveland Clinic Survey, 53% of men said they just dont talk about their health. 60% said they only go to a doctor if a symptom or problem becomes unbearable. 20% admitted the only reason they see a doctor is to stop a spouse or significant other from nagging them. If you learn how to take care of that amazing body of yours, you might very well be able to live your life at 100% for 100 years…or more. And that would be without any unbearable problems.

    Lifestyle Choices

    Weve already discussed how regardless of age (or sex), the nervous system is in control when it comes to your bodys internal communication system. Despite the many differences between men and women, this isnt one. Often male lifestyles can be about extremes. They either have office jobs that require a lot of sitting, or physical jobs that require a lot of physical labor and heavy lifting. Often their outside of work lifestyles include or are even centered around playing sports or working out.

    These lifestyle choices leave men of all ages exposed to chemicals and toxins, stressors, and injuries. If unchecked they lead to wear and tear on the joints and muscles, chronic pain, and increased risk of injury.

    Health Care Choices

    Over the counter or prescription pain relievers are not a healthy solution. When the medication wears off the pain returns, often worse than before. This downward cycle does not promote health and healing.

    As men age, other concerns such as erectile dysfunction, hypertension, diabetes, and color cancer can be added into the mix. Its possible for men to do what they enjoy, into old age, without risk of chronic illness, injury or pain. All they need to do is begin to make health care choices that will support their bodys innate intelligence. 

    Age Isnt to Blame

    By making proper choices and enhancing your overall health on a regular basis, you will be surprised at how many health challenges can be avoided as you age. Your age isnt to blame for your problems, its the choices youve made that got you where you are today. Those same choices will determine where youre going to be tomorrow.
