One of the basic foundations within traditional and modern Mayan Culture is centered around finding inner balance and harmony within themselves, the environment they live in, and in their connection to each other.

Throughout this infinite quest, the Grandmothers and Grandfathers of the Mayan people have created several calendars, each one with a specific purpose.

These different systems allow human beings to maintain a constant connection to their own personal energy, while providing the ability to move within the natural energetic cycle of our world and our universe as well.

The Mayan’s relationship with “space-time” and their awareness of the different levels of vibration have always been a priority within their daily lives. Based on a very precise knowledge of 20 energetic expressions, the diverse ways in which they manifest, and the cycles in which they move, the Mayan Elders created the Cholq’ij.

The Cholq’ij, or Sacred Calendar, is a synthesis of centuries of observation and studying by the Great Astronomers, Astrologers, Mathematicians, and Elders. In contrast to other calendars it does not focus on the measure of time, on the movements of our planets, moon, sun, or stars, but instead on a cycle of energy which constantly dances in an uninterrupted flow.

This gives us, in a very concrete way, the various vibrations which effect us on a daily basis.

The Cholq’ij is a fully valid system which Mayan Society still depends on to this very day. Little by little, this knowledge is expanding into Western culture, bringing us a guide which supports our daily lives - if we allow it to. By following the energies of the days and opening ourselves to understanding how the energies of the Sacred Mayan Calendar, the Cholq'ij, influences us, a door of connection and harmony begins to open.

This opening gives us a way of understanding more about ourselves, as well as a way to relate to our environment in a more respectful way.
