I still cannot tell when this adventure began exactly ...

Perhaps it is the result of a personal growth process in which according to Don Manuel, a wise Mayan Elder, I have been working on for many incarnations ...

Or maybe it starts with Don Pascual, an elder whom I did not know, but who has played a role of great importance in my life. When I think of him, I imagine him walking steadily despite his advanced age in the Cerros de los Cuchumatanes, a mountain range in Guatemala. I have been told that he was a humble man, who probably wouldn't have been valued in modern society because he could barely read and write. He, however, was in full harmony with himself and his environment; he spoke with the fire and fog and knew many of the secrets of his beautiful mountains. He was simple and tough at the same time and in spite of his immense power, he had an easy smile and a quick tongue for jokes. A great Ajq'ij (Mayan spiritual guide), a leader of the Eagle Clan, and a visionary who knew the prophecies transmitted by his ancestors.

Don Pascual knew that times were changing. That humanity was about to conclude the fourth round of the so-called "Calendar of the long account," in which each cycle lasts 5,200 years. He had inherited the legacy of the Mayan ancestors and according to the oral tradition, when this happened, the processes of transformation would be profound. He knew the different calendars and for him, it was very clear that on December 20 of 2012, a great natural cycle would end. He knew he would not be around to witness that moment, but he spoke with hope about the cycle that was to begin on December 21, 2012.

So he decided to take a small step, yet of great transcendence, from his small abode: He chose to accept disciples who had no indigenous blood. Until then, traditional Mayan knowledge was transmitted only to people of Mayan descent and was protected zealously, to prevent it from being used in the wrong way.

I do not know what led him to make that decision. Maybe he had a vision or simply anticipated an undeniable fact: Only when humanity chooses to leave behind the barriers that separate a human being from another, will it be able to access higher vibrational levels.

So Don Pascual became the teacher of my teachers. They, me, and some others, became bridges to connect the old ancestral knowledge of the Mayan elders with the western world.

I was born in Bogotá, the capital of Colombia; a beautiful country in which the incredible landscapes, the colors of the flowers, the taste of the fruits, and the aroma the of coffee, mix with the smiles of friendly people, who dance and sing expressing a joy that is never extinguished, despite the many obstacles we have faced throughout our history.

I come from a conventional family in which society's values were a fundamental center of our education and in which "what you ought to be" was the compass that should guide our actions. I was an outstanding student, a good athlete, and someone who fit the expectations of the system in which I was raised.

I had a successful career, working in banks and stock exchange firms in the Colombian capital. During this time, I got married and a few months later, became pregnant.
