the more intricate the pattern. Highly complex patterns can also be seen on a water surface." https://www.shift.is/cymatics/

Image above is from: ”The Ultimate Guide to Cymatics – SHIFT”

One of the best examples of this is found in a video titled, "CYMATICS: Science Vs. Music" – by Nigel Stanford, see below.

In this video, you will see various examples of sound affecting different forms of matter and even energy, such as a flame or electricity arc. The energy that is being conducted through the sound wave causes each of the forms of matter and energy to react differently than when there is no sound. As we see this demonstration, it leads us to wonder, "How else could we be using sound for our benefit?"

I wrote a previous article about the music of Pythagoras and his contributions to helping us understand the mathematics behind the music. If we understand that geometry is a form of applied mathematics, it is not too difficult to understand that music would have geometric expression as well.

If you think about it, as music is played or listened to, there is a symmetry to it. Certain notes sound well together, what we call harmony. Other notes, played together, sound discordant.

They are not "pleasing" to the ear. They can even cause an uneasy feeling if listened to for too long. Sometimes horror movies will utilize this discord to set the audience on edge leading up to a dramatic event.

Wikipedia defines geometry as, "a branch of mathematics concerned with properties of space such as the distance, shape, size, and relative position of figures." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geometry

As we have seen in the previous videos, sound does have shape, size, and position. Just as in mathematical geometry, there are different shapes and sizes, so also is this true of sound, especially within the music that we listen to.

Each note is unique. Since a note is also measured as a frequency or Hertz, which is the number of vibrations per second, then each frequency also has a different shape, size, and position.

I couple of years back I attended an online course conducted by John Stuart Reid focused on sound healing. His website is Home - Cymascope

This website is loaded with amazing information and illustrations developed by the cymascope that he developed which allows you to "see" sound. There are infinite geometric formations that can be seen from all the different sound samples we are exposed to.

"Vibration underpins all matter in the Universe. The CymaScope is the first scientific instrument that can provide an analog image of sound and vibration. The once invisible world of sound is revealed in a myriad of geometric patterns."

"If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration."

― Nikola Tesla

I believe that as we understand and see sound better, and appreciate its varied geometric properties and appearances, we will be closer to understanding our universe. The cymascope is a very important instrument available to help us in that process.

Already, we are beginning to see incredible results in the application of sound to the process of healing. There is certainly more to come.
